Wow…last entry was September 22! Sorry about that…been quite, quite busy these past few months. Got a new job…lovin it! Not in the photography field, but my co-workers are awesome and no corporate bullshit that I’ve noticed…(at least, not yet). But never fear, I’m still photographing…as a matter of fact, here’s a few from one of my assignments. Some pics from black and white film will be posted in a few days as soon as I can scan them in.

Big “Thank You” to Matt…the owner of the “Untitled Gallery”…for putting on this show for us. It was a blast. Great seeing and meeting all these photographers. The turnout was awesome. Thanks to everyone that came out and supporting!

Untitled Gallery Photo Exhibition

Come one, come all! A few of my pictures are gonna be displayed (and for sale) at this gallery. Yes, it’s actually called “Untitled Gallery”. Opening night is this Saturday, September 20 from 7pm to 11pm. If you can’t make it but would like to check it out, it will be displayed for a week until Sunday, September 28.

Congratulations guys!!!…it was a beautiful wedding and was honored to be there! You two are the most geniune, awesome, and best human beings that I know. Everyone should be so lucky as I to meet someone like you two in their lifetime. Thanks man!

It was also awesome seeing all my fellow aesop’ers again! :) … partying like we do. Can’t believe it came and went already. *sigh* In the words of Greg Lontok, “Good times!”

Nisei Week

Took my bike and ventured on down to Little Tokyo this past weekend for the Nisei Week Festival. From what I’ve heard, it wasn’t as big as prior years (ie. no tofu festival)…and the Mikoshi they had at the end of the parade was tiny in comparison to the one that was used when I volunteered a long time ago.

Wow, haven’t posted anything for over a month. Lots of stuff going down in the past month…nothing worth mentioning though. Let’s just say I’m back on track…and on that note - since summer is about to end, here’s a little tribute (taken during a bonfire at Dockwieler Beach:

Black and White

What fascinates me about photography are the black and white photographs…and what fascinates me even more are the black and white photographs made with film. Digital is far too easy…you take 1,000 shots, delete 999, and keep that 1 perfect one that you shot accidentally all within 5 minutes. But with film, there’s a lot more of a thought process going into it. You have a 24-frame roll of film, it’s the last roll you have, the light is going cuz the sun is setting and you need to make quick decisions and know what you are doing to get the shot you want. And what’s tougher is when you are dealing with black and white film. You’re no longer seeing color straight on…you’re seeing color in terms of black and white tones.

I don’t know…there’s something with black and white film that digital will never capture. Here’s some of mine:

The last 2 were shot with a Holga 120N Camera. For those that don’t know what that is, it’s a plastic toy camera used back in the days. It’s such a great and fun camera to use and can always find a surprising picture after you develop the roll of film.

I’ll be posting up more of my black and white film photos whenever I have time to scan them.

What’s 4th of July without some fireworks?

I journeyed over to the Rose Bowl for some fireworks festivities. But before I went there, I drove out to the coast to see if there will be any fireworks there. The coast was looking a little overcast and the marine layer looks to be coming in…so I headed over to Santa Monica. There was a makeshift memorial setup for the American Soldiers that have fallen in Bush’s “War on Terror. No comment from me about this as I’m sure there have been plenty that’s been said.

Griffith Park Observatory

The Griffith Park Observatory was where I ventured to this weekend. Not much to look at during the day…the view of the city was incredible but it was so hazy smoggy that I couldn’t get a good shot.

However, night came and the night shots were a plenty. Got to practice more on my long exposure techniques and got some amazing shots.
