What fascinates me about photography are the black and white photographs…and what fascinates me even more are the black and white photographs made with film.  Digital is far too easy…you take 1,000 shots, delete 999, and keep that 1 perfect one that you shot accidentally all within 5 minutes.  But with film, there’s a lot more of a thought process going into it.  You have a 24-frame roll of film, it’s the last roll you have, the light is going cuz the sun is setting and you need to make quick decisions and know what you are doing to get the shot you want.  And what’s tougher is when you are dealing with black and white film.  You’re no longer seeing color straight on…you’re seeing color in terms of black and white tones.  

I don’t know…there’s something with black and white film that digital will never capture.  Here’s some of mine:

The last 2 were shot with a Holga 120N Camera.  For those that don’t know what that is, it’s a plastic toy camera used back in the days.  It’s such a great and fun camera to use and can always find a surprising picture after you develop the roll of film.

I journeyed over to the Rose Bowl for some fireworks festivities. But before I went there, I drove out to the coast to see if there will be any fireworks there. The coast was looking a little overcast and the marine layer looks to be coming in…so I headed over to Santa Monica. There was a makeshift memorial setup for the American Soldiers that have fallen in Bush’s “War on Terror. No comment from me about this as I’m sure there have been plenty that’s been said.
