June 1st was the 1st annual Photographer’s Rights Day…basically a day dedicated to trying to inform the public (mainly security guards and law enforcement) of rights we as photographers have regarding where/what we can and cannot shoot. What a lot of people (including photographers and security guards) don’t know is that it is LEGAL for a photographer to be on public property and photographing something that is on private property. So security guards telling photographers that they can’t take pictures while the photographer is on public property is BS.

There was a rally held at Hollywood and Highland and at Union Station in downtown. No one got arrested and no one got harassed…until after the rally when a few photographers stayed behind to shoot some more.
