Griffith Park Observatory

The Griffith Park Observatory was where I ventured to this weekend.  Not much to look at during the day…the view of the city was incredible but it was so hazy smoggy that I couldn’t get a good shot.

However, night came and the night shots were a plenty.  Got to practice more on my long exposure techniques and got some amazing shots.

My most recent photoshoot with Deborah.  She wanted some headshots so we went over to a park in Burbank and I set her up against some plain, yet colorful, backdrops.  Here are a few of my faves:

Whatta Weekend

Filed Under (Photography) by Marvin on 15-06-2008

Nice weeked…started off with a photoshoot after work on Friday. I got some great headshots…worked the sunset for my filler light while I add my strobe as the main. I’ll post those up as soon as I get to the post-processing.

As for Saturday and Sunday, went to the Pasadena Chalk Festival…this is where artist come and draw these amazing artwork on the floor of Paseo Colorado. I was awestruck by the magnificent drawings being produced. It was fun watching them start out on Saturday and then coming back on Sunday to see the finished work. Here are a few of my faves and you can see the rest on my flickr:

Photographer’s Rights Day

Filed Under (Personal, Photography) by Marvin on 03-06-2008

June 1st was the 1st annual Photographer’s Rights Day…basically a day dedicated to trying to inform the public (mainly security guards and law enforcement) of rights we as photographers have regarding where/what we can and cannot shoot. What a lot of people (including photographers and security guards) don’t know is that it is LEGAL for a photographer to be on public property and photographing something that is on private property. So security guards telling photographers that they can’t take pictures while the photographer is on public property is BS.

Here’s a link to a basic bill of rights for photographers or you can download it here.

There was a rally held at Hollywood and Highland and at Union Station in downtown. No one got arrested and no one got harassed…until after the rally when a few photographers stayed behind to shoot some more.

Here’s a few pictures I took:
