Wow, luv dem Pocket Wizards!
March 22nd, 2008 Posted in Business, Photography, PhotoshootsJust got back from a photoshoot and all I gotta say is “Wow! Luv dem Pocket Wizards!!” For those of you that don’t know what Pocket Wizards are, they’re basically a wireless remote trigger system for your off-camera flashes. So a remote attaches to your camera via the hotshoe and the receiver attaches to your off-camera flash. Now everytime you take a shot, it’ll wirelessly fire your flash that you have placed somewhere else. Here’s what they look like:
I ordered 3 Pocket Wizards off Ebay specifically for this photoshoot today as Ryan (the model) needed headshots for the agency that she signed with…so I didn’t want to half-ass this job by using one strobe and a cheap-ass $20 remote triggering system I bought off Ebay that would misfire half the time. So I decided to buy a second strobe and the Pocket Wizards. Turns out I haven’t received the Pocket Wizards yet so I made a run to Samy’s Camera and rented them (along with a 20mm lens). And boy, did they make a huge difference. No misfires and less hassle to work with. And the second strobe was great…now I had 3 light sources available to me, the sun and the 2 strobes which made for great shots. I couldn’t have gotten some of these shots if I didn’t have that second strobe.
And speaking of shots, I will have them up soon after I sort them out and do a lil post-processing…so stay tuned for those.
